Luca Zidane, con trai của huyền thoại Zinedine Zidane, gia nhập lò đào tạo của Real Madrid vào năm 2005 khi mới 6 tuổi. Không như người bố vĩ đại của mình chơi ở vị trí tiền vệ, Luca thi đấu trong vai trò người gác đền. Anh có trận ra mắt chuyên nghiệp đầu tiên cho Los Blancos ở trận đấu cuối cùng của mùa 2017/18 trong trận hòa 2-2 với Villarreal. Lần xuất hiện khác là ở chiến thắng 3-2 trước Huesca vào tháng 3/2019.
Tuy nhiên phong độ của Luca không thể thuyết phục được người bố của mình cũng như ban huấn luyện Real Madrid giữ anh lại. Trở lại từ Santander, Luca đã bị đội bóng Hoàng gia Tây Ban Nha bán đứt. Theo đó, anh tiếp tục xuống chơi ở giải hạng hai Tây Ban Nha trong màu áo Rayo Vallecano bằng bản hợp đồng có thời hạn 2 năm.
Những thông tin trên đã phần nào khiến người hâm mộ thay đổi ánh nhìn với HLV Zinedine Zidane. Trước đây, nhiều người cho rằng, chiến lược gia 46 tuổi thiên vị con trai mình và muốn đẩy Keylor Navas đi để Luca trở thành sự lựa chọn thứ hai trong khung gỗ Los Blancos.
